Gochujang Chicken Cheese Sandwich

This is what happens when fiery Korean-style Gochujang chicken meets a Philly cheesesteak. Sweet, spicy chicken cooked with onion and peppers and topped with melty cheese, served on crusty white bread.

  • Prep: 5 mins plus marinating
  • Cook: 15 mins
  • Serves: 2-3

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the Gochujang, soy sauce, honey, Garlic Paste, Ginger Paste, and Chilli Flakes. Mix with the chicken and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before moving onto step 2.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, onion, and peppers and cook until the meat is golden and cooked through, stirring often.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Spread the chicken evenly in the pan. Lay the cheese slices over the top and cover with a lid. Cook for 1–2 minutes until melted.
  4. Spoon into toasted rolls. Finish with sesame seeds and spring onions if using. Serve hot.
